General Assistance Contacts John M. Falla, General Assistance Administrator Scope of Services The State of Maine General Assistance Program is administered by the Town Office and is funded 50% by the State and 50% from local property taxes. The program provides help to eligible individuals who need financial assistance for basic needs such as housing, food, electricity, heat, personal supplies and other items that are considered essential. In order to receive assistance, applicants must apply at the Town Office, meet eligibility guidelines and follow program rules. Information concerning requests for assistance is strictly confidential.
Home Heating Assistance The heating season is again upon us! However, some of our residents have difficulty obtaining the needed heating fuel. There are several options available:
All of these funds are administered through the town office and are confidential. If you are a household with small children, or out of work, or just struggling to get by, please call the town office at 372.6363. If you are fortunate enough to provide your own heating fuel and are able to help others, please reach out and help your neighbors. Thanks!
