Seniors' Lighthouse Cruise
Saturday, June 22nd
2:30pm - 5:00pm
The Recreation Departments of Thomaston and St George invite their senior residents on a Lighthouse Cruise with Monhegan Boat Line out of Port Clyde.
Join us for a two and a half hour cruise to view and learn about Marshall Point, Whitehead, Two Bush Light, and Southern Island Lighthouses. Along the way, you will see marine life, spot locations that inspired the Wyeth family, and savor delicious snacks with enjoyable company! The event is free to senior St George residents.
Transportation will be provided by All Aboard Trolley. Pick up for St George residents will be at 2:00pm at the St George Town Office.
Space is limited! Please contact the Town Office by June 7th at 372.6363 to reserve a spot. The rain date is Saturday, June 29th.
2013 YOUTH BASEBALL/SOFTBALL/TEE-BALL

Farm/ Minor League softball is up and running along with baseball.
Tee-Ball coaches have beeen appointed and calls or emails will be going out soon to all those who registered

Volunteers are needed to umpire games at all youth levels (Little League & Farm League baseball /softball & Tee-Ball). We'll also be in need of volunteers willing to help prepare the fields on game days Please contact the Town Office.

The Parks & Recreation Committee shall oversee all resources,
facilities & programs of a recreational nature, strive to maintain
and improve the physical and mental fitness of the community, and
administer, in cooperation with the Town Manager, the recreational
programs to include all segments of the community on a year round basis.
Past P & R Committee responsibilities have included, but have not been limited to:
Monthly committee meetings with the P & R Director for updates & idea sharing.
Participate in department sponsored events as much a possible (IE; Saturday basketball games, events, fund raisers, etc.)
Assist in event set-up, operations, clean-up & fund raising whenever possible.
Help promote and advertise the department’s events & offerings
Follow the department’s “Mission Statement”, “Core Values” & “Vision Statement”
Respect and adhere to the department’s policies and guidelines.
Promote good sportsmanship, fair play & leadership by example
Assist in recruiting volunteer coaches, umpires, referees, and other helpers
The Parks & Rec. Committee consists of seven voting members and
two or more alternate members that are appointed annually by the Select
Board.
The Parks & Rec. Director attends the monthly P & R Committee
meetings to update members on activities and to coordinate efforts to
further the goals of the Committee.

St. George Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for scheduling, prepping and maintaining multiple fields, courts, parks and playgrounds for the many spring, summer & fall youth sports activities, teams & leagues.
The P & R department also organizes, oversees & maintains local winter youth basketball teams and leagues from 2nd-6th grade. We host the traditional "Mussel Ridge Hoops Basketball Tournament" for 3rd/4th graders in March as well as offer free basketball & soccer clinics for children in kindergarten & first grade.
In addition, the department organizes, oversees and sponsors programs for adults and local senior citizens.
The Parks & Recreation Department's offerings for "St. George Days" include the Marshall Point 5K Lighthouse Loop, The Celebrity Dunk Tank, our Home Run Derby and ending with our Family Fun Field Day.
