Information
This ad hoc committee is developing a proposal for a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) program, which will be submitted to St. George voters for their consideration in 2026. TIF is an economic development tool to leverage tax dollars from a particular project or area in town ("the district") for purposes the community identifies (infrastructure improvements, workforce education, programs, or services which promote economic growth).
TIF programs do not involve raising taxes. Rather, they allow the town to use some of the tax dollars normally paid for properties in the district for specific purposes.

Any TIF plan developed for St. George would have to be approved by the voters, as well as the State Economic & Community Development office. For more information, contact town manager Brandon Leppanen or Select Board Chair Jane Conrad.
